It is hard to believe that another school year has ended. The 2009-2010 school year was exciting and productive at Wanamaker Elementary. Preliminary scores on state assessments look very good, and I look forward to sharing final data with you this fall. It was sad to see our sixth graders leave the building for the last time, but the groundwork these students built at Wanamaker will help ensure a successful middle and high school career. We look forward to hearing great things about our alumni from the middle school staff.

Our teachers and staff use the summer for renewal: learning new ways to allow Wanamaker to continue its warm and friendly atmosphere where it is our mission to provide a safe learning environment that will prepare all students with the necessary skills to function and prosper in an ever-changing and diverse society.

Summer is an important time for student renewal as well. Our students have worked hard this year, and it is time for a break. Have a safe and relaxing summer break, but I want to stress the importance of reading daily to keep those skills sharp!
