Note your child’s math teacher may change quarterly. |

Cooking is a great way to practice using fractions and reinforces that we use fractions daily. Having students do problems related to money helps reinforce what they have learned about decimals and whole numbers. Students need to be able to find the decimal equivalent of a fraction. Therefore their grades are given in fraction form so they have to find the decimal/percentage representation. |
|
Students are given a pretest before we begin the unit and must hold on to the pretest until we have completed the post test. They are being asked to reflect on how much they have learned over the unit as well as what they need to work on. They will be bringing the tests home together so that you are able to see their growth. |

Estimation Jar
You are in charge of the estimation jar. Please put as many items as you want to in the jar. Remember the students are going to have to figure out the number so you don’t want too few.
It is now time to write 5 clues. Remember – don’t make the clues too easy. You can use words like in between, greater than, even, odd, multiple of etc.
